Applying & programs

Who can apply to a YDLC program?

Most programs are open to young people — see each program's "who it's for" detail on the Programs page. There is no GPA cutoff or essay requirement.

Is there a cost to participate?

Our intent is to keep every founding program free or low-cost. Final pricing will be listed here and on each program page before Cohort 01 begins.

How much time do programs require?

It varies by program, from a single 6-week sprint to a full year-long cohort. Check the "Format" row on each program's card on the Programs page.

How do I apply?

Use our program interest form and tell us which program interests you. We'll respond as Cohort 01 recruitment opens.

Trust & organization

Is YDLC a registered nonprofit?

See our full, current status on the Trust & Governance page — we keep this updated as our registration progresses and won't bury this information.

Who's actually running YDLC right now?

YDLC is currently led by founder Sammir Thapa and is actively recruiting a founding board. We show this stage honestly on our Leadership page rather than implying a larger team than exists yet.

What safeguards are in place for youth participants?

Every mentor and staff member completes a background check and orientation before any contact with participants. Full detail is on our safeguarding page.

Donating & volunteering

How is my donation used?

YDLC does not operate an active public donation channel yet. When one opens — alongside confirmed registration status — founding-year allocation will be shown on our financial transparency page.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Not currently — YDLC is not yet a registered 501(c)(3) organization, so gifts aren't tax-deductible at this time. This page will be updated the moment that changes.

I want to mentor — what's the commitment?

About one hour a week for one program cycle (6–12 weeks), plus a required background check and orientation. Details are on our Get Involved page.
